Status: Research Status

While for some people on this site detailed research has been conducted, for the vast majority the scope of research has been limited to the following:

  • Birth, Marriage and Death records
  • Names of parents, spouses and children
  • Appearance on 1901 and 1911 Censuses
  • Tithe Applotment Books
  • Griffith's Valuation
  • Census Search Forms
  • Will Calendars to 1920 (generally only referred to if a Death record not found).

Bearing this in mind, the three main categories under which people's research status are noted are:

Complete indicates that all planned research into a person has been conducted, even if there are remaining gaps in my knowledge of him or her

Deferred means that not all of the usual research steps have been conducted and that at present no decision as been made as to whether such steps will be undertaken. If the decision is made not to undertake them (for whatever reason) then the status will be set as Incomplete as outlined below.

Incomplete - used when a conscious decision to not complete the standard research steps has been made. This could be because there are aspects regarding people marked incomplete that demand more detailed study but it is not possible to say when such study can be conducted.
